About Jorge Vistel

Born in Santiago de Cuba and heir to a musical dynasty; Jorge Vistel knows the secrets of his land and combines it exquisitely with the jazz avant-garde. This results in a contemporary, personal and authentic style noticeable in his latest work: Cimarron, released by Inner Circle Music; New York label owned by Greg Osby. Vistel began his studies at an early age, and then formed into the National Art School in Cuba. Alongside taking lessons with Steve Coleman, Wynton Marsalis, Nicholas Payton, Steve Turre and Barry Harris, among others.

In 2005 decided to reside in Europe, playing on stage with people such as Benny Golson, Roy Hargrove, Doug Hammond, David Murray, Henry Cole, Lewis Nash, Dado Moroni, Benny Green, Marcus Printup, Stefano Bedetti, Gary Thomas, David Virelles or Roman Filiu. With Vistel Brothers quintet, formed with his brother Maikel Vistel, edits Evolution. Album released by Fresh Sound Records. Currently touring with quintet Alfredo Rodriguez & The Invasion Parade, sponsored by Quincy Jones.
